Orlando Officer Tase Man Armed With Loaded Gun on July 4th

Orlando, Florida — On July 4, 2025, around 6:40 p.m., the Orlando Police Department received a call about a disturbance with a firearm at 4334 Crossroads Court. According to a witness, the suspect involved, later identified as 22-year-old Zion Skepple, had been waving a gun around in the presence of multiple people. When the officer arrived on scene, Skepple, who matched the description provided by the witness, was seen walking away and looking back at the police vehicle. The officer gave multiple commands for him to stop, but Skepple did not comply.

The officer attempted to use a taser, which was initially not effective. Skepple then began to run toward a nearby apartment. A second taser deployment caused Skepple to fall, but he quickly got up and continued toward an apartment door. At one point, Skepple turned away from the officer and appeared to reach for something that was not in the officer’s view. In response, the officer drew their service weapon and ordered Skepple to stop and get on the ground. Skepple complied and was taken into custody. A search of his person revealed a firearm with an extended magazine containing 31 rounds, along with cannabis. Skepple was charged with Possession of Cannabis and Resisting an Officer Without Violence.
