Tracking: Tsunami alerts stretch from Russia to California after massive 8.8 quake

A powerful 8.8-magnitude earthquake struck near Russia’s Kamchatka Peninsula, triggering tsunami warnings and advisories across the Pacific, including Hawaii, California, Oregon, Washington, British Columbia, Japan, the Philippines, and New Zealand. The quake caused damage and evacuations in Russia, minor tsunami waves in Japan, and strong coastal currents elsewhere. No serious injuries have been reported. Authorities warn that aftershocks could continue for weeks and advised people to stay away from coastal areas.
