SANTA ANA, Calif. (KABC) — Two people were killed and five others were hospitalized after a BMW driver going the wrong way crashed into three other cars in Santa Ana Monday evening, police said.
The crash happened around 6:35 p.m. on Main Street, just north of Warner Avenue, according to Santa Ana Police Department Officer Natalie Garcia.
A BMW traveling at a high rate of speed was going north on Main Avenue when the driver crossed the center line into oncoming traffic, Garcia said. The BMW crashed into three cars.
Two people were pronounced dead at the scene. They have not been identified.
Five people were rushed to a hospital in stable condition. They are expected to survive their injuries, police said.
It’s unknown if alcohol or drugs were a factor.
