A 73-year-old woman, Linda Frickey, was violently carjacked in New Orleans and dragged over a block while caught in her car\u2019s seatbelt, resulting in her death from blunt-force trauma.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Four teenagers, all minors at the time, were taken into custody and charged as adults: John Honore, Briniyah Baker, Lenyra Theophile, and Mar\u2019qel Curtis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In November 2023, the three girls accepted a plea deal, pleading guilty to attempted manslaughter, and were each sentenced to 20 years in prison.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Family members of Frickey described the defendants\u2019 remorse as genuine and said they were relieved that justice had been carried out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Honore went to trial and was found guilty of second-degree murder in May 2025, receiving a mandatory life sentence. However, because he was a juvenile at the time, he will be eligible for parole after 25 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
